The client contacted CR3 to perform six precision cuts on a Deep Catalytic Cracking Unit at their facility. CR3 recommended diamond wire and hydro-abrasive cuts as the optimal solution for a project of this type.
The CR3 cutting team made five diamond wire cuts on pipes ranging from 58 to 88 inches in diameter and one hydro-abrasive cut on the head of the regenerator section. Due to the regenerator head having such a large circumference (28 meters), CR3 used two cutting units working in tandem to complete the cut; by doing so, the total cutting time was reduced from 20 hours to 9 hours.
CR3 completed all six precision cuts two days ahead of schedule; this included two extra diamond wire cuts that the client requested mid-project. This saving was only possible thanks to the proactive pre-planning carried out by CR3.
The client was impressed with the effectiveness of CR3’s cutting methods, commending the quality of each cut and the overall efficiency demonstrated throughout the project.
