CR3 Middle East has completed its first catalyst handling project in Egypt, delivering the fastest-ever ammonia converter revamp on record. The three-bed converter was unloaded and reloaded ahead of schedule, with zero HSE observations or violations, in full compliance with CR3’s Safety Non-Negotiable and Life-Protecting Rules.
Ammonia converter revamps typically involve multiple contractors covering separate disciplines, with the handovers between them adding time to the critical path. On this project, CR3 delivered the entire scope in-house: mechanical work, welding, lifting and full catalyst handling, all under one integrated team.
That structure removed the interfaces that usually slow a converter revamp, and it held the schedule and delivered the record. Beyond the contracted scope, CR3 also supported the client with additional welding on the waste heat exchanger and the repair of a cracked omega gasket, work absorbed within the existing programme rather than added to it.
During execution, senior operations management visited the site to recognise the team’s performance and reinforce the standards to which the work was delivered.
The project marks CR3’s entry into the Egyptian market, and the company has already been awarded a second ammonia converter project in the country, scheduled for August, reflecting the confidence placed in the team’s delivery.
