Building on our growing expertise in advanced surface preparation, CR3 recently completed a complex hull blasting and painting project for a Malaysian energy services company’s Tender-Assisted Drilling (TAD) rig at Kuantan Port.

The project encompassed comprehensive surface preparation and coating of the vessel’s 1,717-square-meter hull. CR3 executed the majority of blasting using a magnetic crawler robot with closed-loop vacuum technology, ensuring a clean and controlled process. For hard-to-access areas, our IRATA Certified Technicians performed manual Ultra-High-Pressure Water Jetting (UHPWJ) to achieve the required surface preparation standards.

Following thorough surface cleaning and inspection, our coating technicians applied a three-layer coating system supplied by Hempel, ensuring complete coverage and adherence to specification requirements even in the most challenging areas of the hull. All Hempel-conducted coating inspections were successfully passed, with adhesion tests confirming exceptional performance that exceeded the minimum requirement by nearly four times.

CR3 delivered exceptional results across all metrics, achieving 7,380 safe work hours with zero incidents while completing the project ahead of schedule.

This latest project demonstrates CR3’s proven track record in delivering critical industrial maintenance solutions for the energy sector. By successfully maintaining essential marine assets in challenging offshore environments, we’ve further solidified our position as a trusted partner across Asia’s energy infrastructure.
