CR3 India (CRAI) completed an ethylene oxide (EO) catalyst replacement job in April 2019 for a prominent petrochemical manufacturing facility in Western India. CRAI was awarded this project based on their previous experience and superior execution of other similar work performed for this client.
The job was made more challenging by the fact there were approximately 1,600 tubes within the reactor that contained fused catalyst, which was suspected to be due to an operational issue and plant trip that happened in December 2018. Nevertheless, with the right equipment and a committed effort from the CRAI team, this job was carried out safely and to the satisfaction of the client. The most critical task was grit blasting of all tubes inside a confined space.
Overall, a successful project executed safely.
